Responsibilities
- Own frontend user interfaces end-to-end, from wireframes and prototypes to performant production code.
- Develop features, capabilities, tooling, visualizations, and products across Helsing’s stack.
- Establish and evolve a reusable React component library across multiple frontends.
- Review code contributions, technical proposals, and RFCs, and help unblock colleagues.
- Define frontend engineering standards and build or adopt tools that improve frontend efficiency.
- Collaborate with product, UX, frontend, and backend engineers, including navigating Rust codebases as needed.
- Mentor engineers, contribute to interviewing, share technical knowledge, and present work in demo sessions.
Requirements
- Write legible, maintainable, and performant frontend code, ideally using TypeScript and React.
- Have experience with APIs and server-client communication such as REST and GraphQL.
- Have experience running live production software.
- Stay current with development best practices, libraries, and frameworks.
- Be comfortable working with unfamiliar backend systems; Rust exposure is beneficial but not required.
- Communicate effectively in English and collaborate through code reviews and pair programming.
- Work effectively asynchronously through pull requests, RFCs, and written discussions.
- Nice-to-have qualifications include significant recent React experience, gRPC and Protocol Buffers familiarity, Vite or other modern JavaScript bundlers, frontend infrastructure experience, TailwindCSS, reusable React component libraries, data visualization, and aerospace, defense, or AI software experience.
