Base Salary
$135k - $228k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and implement control and sensing software for advanced mechatronic instrumentation.
- Work hands-on with mechatronic hardware during system bring-up, calibration, operation, experimentation, and debugging.
- Lead system optimization through experimental design, execution, data analysis, and visualization.
- Interface with embedded systems engineers and electrical engineers on lower-level controllers and firmware.
- Collaborate with systems and mechanical engineering on control boards, motors, sensors, and other hardware components.
- Write maintainable software and document designs, instrument configurations, and error recovery.
- Write and execute unit tests, automate hardware testing, and debug software issues.
- Generate software requirements, design specifications, and test protocols for the company Quality System.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and leadership to deliver technical milestones.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field with 3+ years of industry experience, or a PhD in computer science.
- Strong knowledge of C#, C, and C++ for real-time and pseudo-real-time control on Linux.
- Experience architecting and developing motion-control, sensing, and state-machine software for production diagnostic instruments or medical robots.
- Strong experimental design, empirical data collection, analysis, and visualization skills using scripting languages such as Python.
- Experience developing medical-device software under FDA requirements, including software risk analysis and cybersecurity across the product development lifecycle.
- Strong analytical skills and a creative mindset.
- Preferred experience with low-latency machine controls, high-speed precision optics, biological sample processing, OpenCV, deterministic execution, and backend software for instrument data storage and network transmission.

- Target base salary ranges are listed by region: $134,600–$193,500 for Region 2 and $158,300–$227,700 for Region 1.
- Compensation packages may include incentives, benefits, and equity.
- Certain roles may require proof of vaccination, and export-control licensing or a Technology Control Plan may apply.
