Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain large-scale distributed systems on Azure using .NET and C#.
- Navigate complex legacy and modern codebases with minimal ramp-up time.
- Engage with business stakeholders to gather requirements, build domain expertise, and translate needs into technical solutions.
- Drive architectural decisions, trade-off analyses, and technical strategy.
- Own backend services end to end, including APIs, data access, cloud infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and operational support.
- Mentor and unblock engineers while improving engineering quality and practices.
- Collaborate across organizational boundaries to align technical work with business outcomes.
- Identify and resolve systemic issues in production environments, tooling, and development workflows.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency in C# and .NET, including .NET 6+ and ASP.NET Core.
- Deep experience with Microsoft Azure services including App Services, Azure Functions, Service Bus, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Storage, Key Vault, and Entra ID.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in ambiguous, complex environments with large codebases and distributed systems.
- Strong record of shipping and maintaining production backend systems at scale.
- Experience in regulated or domain-heavy industries such as healthcare, life sciences, or finance.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience owning work from requirements gathering through deployment and operational support.
- Preferred: Health and Life Sciences technology experience, including EHR/EMR systems, clinical data, regulatory compliance, HIPAA, or HL7/FHIR.
- Preferred: Azure DevOps, deployment pipelines, and infrastructure as code using Bicep or Terraform.
- Preferred: Event-driven architectures, microservices patterns, distributed messaging, data-intensive systems, pipelines, or ML/AI integrations in healthcare.
- Preferred: Experience leading cross-team initiatives or serving as a technical anchor on high-impact projects.
