Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Build and maintain an end-to-end architecture view covering data flows, service boundaries, and ownership seams.
- Identify and address systemic scaling, reliability, and cost risks across ingestion, identification, signals, and delivery.
- Set direction for REST, SDK, and MCP API and service patterns, including versioning and backward compatibility.
- Shape the roadmap for foundational initiatives such as cell architecture, multi-region readiness, rate limiting, and feature-flag infrastructure.
- Lead cross-cutting architecture decisions, maintain decision records, and drive adoption across engineering teams.
- Partner with Engineering leadership and Staff/Lead engineers to prioritize cross-cutting work and connect it to team roadmaps.
- Mentor Staff-level engineers on system design, technical writing, and influence.
- Strengthen design reviews, RFCs, observability, quality, security-by-design, and API evolution practices.
- Translate business and product growth into multi-quarter technical strategy and advise leadership on platform investment, build-versus-buy decisions, and technical risk.
- Lead AI adoption in engineering practices and shape systems and documentation for effective AI-agent use.
- Prototype, write reference implementations and documentation, and investigate production issues when needed.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience.
- 3+ years operating as an Architect for a 100+ person engineering organization, with ownership of platform architecture rather than only a service.
- Demonstrated ability to lead senior engineers through influence, run effective design-review or architecture forums, and drive organization-wide standards adoption.
- Deep expertise in distributed systems and high-throughput, low-latency backend architecture using Go or a similar systems language, Kubernetes, AWS, and event-driven or data-intensive systems.
- Experience designing public APIs and SDKs at scale, including versioning, backward compatibility, and multi-surface consistency.
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate systemic risks and prevent failures.
- Exceptional written communication and experience with asynchronous, documented decision-making.
- Regular practical use of AI coding and reasoning tools for design, prototyping, review, and writing.
- Ability to architect codebases, documentation, service boundaries, and APIs for safe and effective human and AI-agent collaboration.
- Pragmatic judgment balancing long-term architecture with delivery pressure.
- Experience stepping into a new dedicated architecture role, earning trust, and increasing the effectiveness of existing technical leaders.
- Experience in fraud detection, identity, device intelligence, or another adversarial domain is preferred.
- Multi-region or cell-based architecture experience is preferred.
- Experience with MCP, LLM tool integrations, or agent-facing API design is preferred.
- Familiarity with ClickHouse, Kafka, or similar high-volume data infrastructure is preferred.
