Base Salary
$192k - $241k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect and lead database modernization efforts, including performance optimization, reliability improvements, and donor-data retention strategies.
- Design and implement scalable data solutions, robust APIs, and integrations with third-party vendor APIs.
- Lead technical execution of large cross-team initiatives and break initiative-level work into epics.
- Serve as a technical consultant on architecture, system design, extensibility, integrations, and data exchange.
- Improve database schemas, data retrieval processes, scalability, monitoring, testing, software quality, and technical debt management.
- Document technical decisions, establish testing and monitoring practices, and communicate effectively with varied audiences.
- Coach and mentor engineers, provide constructive code-review feedback, and support colleagues’ professional development.
- Contribute to urgent incident support and post-mortems while fostering an inclusive and collaborative engineering culture.
Requirements
- 6–8 years of relevant professional experience providing technical leadership for complex, multi-quarter initiatives.
- Significant experience developing and maintaining large monolithic server-side web applications and carrying API changes through feature completion.
- Broad knowledge across technical stacks, with strong understanding of backend systems and the wider technology ecosystem.
- Deep understanding of performance, scalability, and security best practices, including recommending system-level improvements.
- Experience designing and integrating third-party APIs and building extensible systems for diverse downstream tools and data consumers.
- Experience creating defensive testing frameworks and debugging complex issues throughout the stack.
- Track record of collaborating on reliable software abstractions and patterns, including refactoring legacy code.
- Ability to translate business requirements and strategic goals into technical solutions and communicate with non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience coaching and mentoring engineers and fostering a culture of specific praise and constructive feedback.
- Ability to provide support during urgent situations and contribute holistic solutions in post-mortems.
- Ability to mentor, collaborate, and provide technical guidance across multiple team members.
