Responsibilities
- Implement small features and bug fixes across Node.js/TypeScript backend services under senior engineer guidance.
- Write unit and integration tests to improve existing module coverage.
- Participate in code reviews and respond to feedback.
- Debug issues in local and staging environments using logs, tracing tools, debuggers, or structured logging.
- Read and contribute to Kafka and RabbitMQ event-driven ingestion and processing flows.
- Maintain internal documentation, API specifications, and runbooks.
- Participate in sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives.
- Experiment with React and TypeScript components in an internal tooling dashboard.
Requirements
- Pursuing or completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or an equivalent field.
- Able to commit to at least four months for the internship or work full-time as an associate.
- Understands programming fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.
- Has hands-on JavaScript or TypeScript experience through coursework or personal projects.
- Familiar with Git, including branching, pull requests, and conflict resolution.
- Understands REST APIs, HTTP methods, status codes, and request/response structures.
- Can read existing code in an unfamiliar codebase.
- Uses AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, or ChatGPT responsibly, including effective prompting and output verification.
- Comfortable working in a Linux or macOS terminal and running projects locally with Docker Compose.
- Preferred qualifications include Node.js or TypeScript backend experience, familiarity with Jest, Vitest, or Mocha, basic React knowledge, and exposure to Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis, AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Interest or experience in cybersecurity, malware analysis, threat intelligence, security tooling, CI/CD pipelines, AI-assisted development, AI APIs, RAG, embeddings, or function calling is preferred.
