Responsibilities
- Implement small features and bug fixes across Node.js and TypeScript backend services under senior-engineer guidance.
- Write unit and integration tests and improve coverage for existing modules.
- Participate in code reviews, debug local and staging issues, and use logs and tracing tools.
- Understand Kafka and RabbitMQ event-driven flows and contribute to ingestion and processing pipelines.
- Maintain internal documentation, API specifications, and runbooks.
- Experiment with React and TypeScript components in the internal tooling dashboard.
- Participate in sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives.
Requirements
- Pursuing or completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or an equivalent qualification or experience.
- Able to commit to at least four months for the internship or work full-time as an associate.
- Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.
- Hands-on JavaScript or TypeScript experience through coursework or personal projects.
- Familiarity with Git, branching, pull requests, and resolving conflicts.
- Basic understanding of REST APIs, HTTP methods, status codes, and request/response structures.
- Able to read unfamiliar codebases and use a Linux or macOS terminal.
- Able to run projects locally with Docker Compose and use a debugger or structured logging.
- Preferred qualifications include Node.js or TypeScript backend experience, testing-framework experience, React knowledge, message-queue exposure, cloud-provider experience, and cybersecurity interest.
- Preferred experience includes AI coding tools, AI APIs, RAG, embeddings, function calling, and understanding limitations of LLM-generated code.
