Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and own data-intensive, high-performance, scalable platform components.
- Develop, deploy, and optimize streaming infrastructure and foundational data-platform systems.
- Collaborate with engineering teams, architects, and cross-functional partners on project design and implementation.
- Conduct and participate in design reviews, code reviews, analysis, and performance tuning.
- Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack.
- Participate in the on-call rotation and incident management.
- Coach and mentor engineers to help scale the engineering organization.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of industry experience.
- At least 2 years of experience with an object-oriented language, preferably Java.
- Hands-on experience with cloud-based distributed computing technologies, including messaging, data processing, storage and compute, and coordination or scheduling systems.
- Experience developing and tuning highly scalable distributed systems.
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles, multithreading, garbage collection, and memory management.
- Experience with reliability engineering involving data quality, data observability, and incident management.
- Experience with security, encryption, identity management, or authentication infrastructure is preferred.
- Experience using major public cloud providers to build mission-critical, high-volume services is preferred.
- Experience developing large-scale data integration applications across batch and online systems is preferred.
- Experience with distributed systems such as Kafka or Hadoop and Kubernetes-based services on AWS is preferred.
