Responsibilities
- Build and support core platform capabilities, user-facing experiences, and backend services end to end.
- Design and deliver event-driven backend systems, asynchronous pipelines, integrations, and reliable notification and downstream-service delivery patterns.
- Own reliability, production behavior, debugging, and issue resolution across distributed systems.
- Improve performance and data integrity through database design and query/index optimization in non-relational datastores.
- Build secure, compliant integrations and user experiences with strong validation, security hardening, and privacy-minded changes.
- Deliver fast, intuitive, accessible UX improvements for internal and external tools.
- Collaborate with Product, QA, Design, and engineering teams to deliver roadmap work and high-severity fixes.
- Conduct code reviews, provide technical mentorship, and establish maintainable, observable, robust engineering patterns.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional experience as a Backend Software Engineer or a Full Stack Software Engineer with a strong backend focus, preferably using TypeScript or Python.
- 3+ years of experience designing and building scalable APIs, microservices, or distributed systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Experience writing maintainable, traceable code with clean abstractions in integration-heavy codebases.
- Experience with REST APIs, webhooks, third-party integrations, asynchronous programming, concurrency, and scalable backend services.
- Understanding of computer science fundamentals, cloud-native architecture, reliability, scalability, cost, production operations, and observability.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills across distributed systems, networking, and production environments.
- Experience with real-time multimedia telephony/VOIP architecture and SIP and RTP/SRTP protocols.
- Experience with WebRTC and WebSockets; experience with LiveKit and low-latency or real-time workloads is preferred.
- Ability to exercise ownership, autonomy, sound trade-off judgment, ethical decision-making, and user-first thinking.
- Familiarity with AI coding agents such as Claude Code and Cursor.
