Responsibilities
- Design and implement patterns for moving domains out of the monolith with zero downtime.
- Own the architectural vision, technical standards, and trade-offs for legacy displacement across the Supply domain.
- Build new services and support the transition from Go to Java, Kotlin, and Spring.
- Solve complex, performance-sensitive backend problems in production-critical systems.
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers through design reviews and knowledge sharing.
- Partner with product managers to shape requirements and roadmaps that balance technical debt with new value.
- Collaborate effectively with globally distributed teams through written documentation and asynchronous communication.
- Use Grafana and tracing to monitor system health, performance, and reliability.
- Use agentic programming tools such as Claude Code to accelerate refactoring and development workflows.
Requirements
- Typically 10+ years of significant backend engineering experience.
- Deep technical expertise in performance-sensitive, production-critical systems.
- Strong experience with backend systems and the ability to work across multiple programming languages.
- Proven experience with event-driven systems, monolith decomposition, and system migrations.
- Experience setting technical direction, defining engineering patterns and standards, and owning architectural decisions.
- Ability to mentor engineers, conduct design reviews, and raise team-wide technical quality.
- Strong product mindset and ability to connect architectural decisions to business impact.
- Commitment to robust unit, integration, and end-to-end test coverage.
- Experience with observability and building systems that expose performance and health issues.
- Practical React expertise is welcomed.
- Strong collaboration and written communication skills for distributed-team work.
