Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and architectural direction for complex cross-functional streaming initiatives.
  • Design, implement, test, and release scalable, reliable, secure, and maintainable cloud-native platform features.
  • Lead technical design discussions and make architectural decisions across distributed systems, APIs, services, and platform capabilities.
  • Drive engineering projects from concept through implementation, testing, release, and production adoption.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, UX, Support, Documentation, SRE, field engineering, customers, and other engineering teams.
  • Mentor and coach engineers and raise engineering standards.
  • Troubleshoot complex customer use cases and support successful product adoption.
  • Contribute to scalability, reliability, security, observability, performance, automated testing, and open-source engineering practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, and/or 8+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
  • Extensive experience building scalable, robust distributed systems and cloud-native software.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, design patterns, and engineering best practices.
  • Strong Java skills and extensive experience across the Java ecosystem.
  • Significant experience with Apache Flink or comparable distributed stream-processing technologies.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and modern cloud-native architectures.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership without relying on formal management authority.
  • Experience driving complex technical initiatives across multiple engineering teams and mentoring engineers.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Preferred experience includes AWS, Azure, GCP, Scala, Python, JavaScript, Apache Kafka, streaming analytics, event-driven architectures, data pipelines, real-time data processing, observability, automated testing, software delivery practices, and open-source contributions.
