Principal Software Engineer (Senior Architect) - AI Platform

Responsibilities
- Define the technical vision and multi-year roadmap for the AI Platform, including model gateway and routing, agent and MCP infrastructure, evaluation pipelines, and AI observability.
- Own architecture decisions, engineering standards, critical design reviews, and implementation guidance as the team’s technical lead without people-management responsibilities.
- Partner with product and engineering leaders to translate business strategy into platform capabilities and engineering priorities.
- Build customer-facing AI experiences hands-on and platformize them into shared, reusable capabilities.
- Drive technology selection and build-versus-buy decisions considering security, cost, scalability, and time-to-value.
- Mentor senior engineers and serve as a recognized expert in AI infrastructure.
- Lead cross-team initiatives with ambiguous requirements and convert business goals into sequenced technical roadmaps.
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems, including several years architecting platform or infrastructure products used by multiple teams.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience taking LLM-based systems to production, including model integration and routing, retrieval or agent architectures, evaluation harnesses, or cost, latency, and quality optimization.
- Strong hands-on coding skills in a mainstream backend language such as Python or Go.
- Deep experience with Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure such as AWS and/or GCP.
- Strong product acumen, including customer-facing product development, translating customer needs into technical decisions, and engaging business stakeholders.
- Proven experience leading cross-team initiatives with ambiguous requirements and defining technical roadmaps.
