
Mission Software Engineer, Infrastructure

Responsibilities
- Design and implement comprehensive monitoring, observability, and alerting systems.
- Build infrastructure automation to manage large-scale distributed systems.
- Improve system reliability through architectural changes rather than operational workarounds.
- Debug complex distributed-systems issues across multiple layers of the stack.
- Lead responses to critical outages and manage incidents effectively.
- Support infrastructure for Lattice for Mission Autonomy and autonomous systems including Fury and Barracuda.
Requirements
- 5+ years of engineering experience, including at least 3+ years focused on low-level infrastructure, production operations, or infrastructure engineering.
- Deep production Kubernetes expertise, including operational challenges at scale.
- Strong programming skills in Go, Python, Rust, or Java with the ability to build production-grade tooling.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Ability to debug complex distributed-systems issues across multiple layers of the stack.
- Track record of improving system reliability through architectural changes.
- Incident-management and communication experience, including leading responses to critical outages.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
- Preferred experience with defense, aerospace, or other mission-critical systems.
- Preferred expertise in performance optimization and capacity planning for high-throughput, low-latency systems.
- Preferred knowledge of chaos engineering and resilience testing frameworks.
- Preferred familiarity with deployment automation platforms including ArgoCD, FluxCD, Spinnaker, or Jenkins.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals including load balancing, DNS, TLS/SSL, and network security.
- Experience with configuration and secrets management solutions such as Vault, Sealed Secrets, or SOPS.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience designing and implementing observability stacks using Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, EFK, or equivalent.
- Active Secret or higher security clearance is preferred.
