Base Salary
$141k - $208k/yr
Responsibilities
- Contribute to, analyze, and optimize the performance of the core ClickHouse database
- Work on query optimization, distributed query optimization, aggregation, joins, caching, SIMD instructions, and other low-level optimizations
- Extend and create performance tests using real-world and synthetic datasets
- Support advanced customer performance debugging through the Support Engineering team
- Participate in an on-call rotation and external community support channels
- Assess the performance and reliability impact of new features with other teams
- Resolve open-source issues, review and finish pull requests, and answer community questions across mail, chats, Google Groups, and external Slack channels
Requirements
- Solid professional software development experience in C++
- Experience with Unix/Linux systems
- Strong knowledge of database internals and design
- Experience in performance engineering, ideally with databases or alternatively high-frequency trading, simulation, or real-time data processing
- Strong production debugging and problem-solving skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering teams and communicate well
- Willingness to participate in code reviews and work closely with the open-source community
- Bonus: ClickHouse experience
- Bonus: Security, privacy, or compliance experience
- Bonus: TCP/IP and network programming experience
- Bonus: Cloud infrastructure services experience, preferably with Kubernetes
- Bonus: Public speaking at technical conferences or meetups
