Responsibilities
- Build substantial interactive features within an existing enterprise product without disrupting established workflows.
- Create accurate data visualizations, comparison views, filtering controls, and real-time interface updates.
- Implement loading, error, empty, insufficient-data, and other degraded states.
- Build and extend Ruby on Rails APIs, data models, and services, and consume architecture-team APIs.
- Collaborate closely with designers and product managers to match intended interfaces and clarify requirements.
- Ensure features load asynchronously, remain performant, and support accessibility and cross-browser consistency.
- Instrument features to measure usage and write automated tests covering normal and degraded behavior.
- Use AI coding tools to accelerate development, debugging, and test writing while reviewing generated code.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience building production web applications with significant frontend ownership and hands-on backend development.
- Strong Ruby on Rails experience building and modifying APIs, data models, and services.
- Strong proficiency with a modern JavaScript framework such as React, Angular, or Vue, plus solid JavaScript and TypeScript fundamentals.
- Experience building data-dense interfaces such as charts, tables, dashboards, or comparison views where presentation accuracy matters.
- Experience working in large existing codebases and avoiding regressions.
- Demonstrable attention to edge cases, empty states, and error handling supported by automated tests such as RSpec and frontend testing frameworks.
- Strong collaboration skills with designers and product managers.
- Working proficiency with AI coding tools such as Claude or GitHub Copilot, with the judgment to review and validate generated code.
