Responsibilities

  • Develop tactical autonomy software for unmanned platforms operating across air, land, sea, and space domains.
  • Implement and test behaviors for multi-agent coordination, target engagement, reconnaissance, survivability, and other complex missions.
  • Own the software lifecycle from requirements capture and architecture through implementation, verification, validation, deployment, support, and evolution.
  • Architect scalable autonomy software subsystems that interact with sensors, state estimation, communications, contingency management, actuation, and payload interfaces.
  • Set technical direction, contribute to technology roadmaps, and promote reuse of autonomous behaviors across products and projects.
  • Collaborate with vehicle integration teams, external engineering groups, operational subject matter experts, and stakeholders across engineering, business, and sales.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior team members while remaining a hands-on technical contributor.
  • Travel to co-locate with end users and other teams up to 20% of the time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in production-level C++ software development.
  • At least 7 years of experience in software subsystem scheduling and integration, behavior planning, task and resource allocation, motion planning, optimization, flight controls, or related areas.
  • Experience with collaborative software development tools for version control, issue tracking, code reviews, and release management.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, set technical direction, and manage projects from concept through deployment.
  • Ability to own an entire software system, including stakeholder engagement, requirements definition, roadmap management, coordination, design, implementation, sustainment, and evolution.
  • Experience mentoring junior team members and building team cohesion and capacity.
  • Preferred experience with multiple technology readiness levels, mission systems integration, integration events or flight demonstrations, collaborative mission planning, synchronized teaming, motion planning, targeting, collision avoidance, geofencing, safety monitoring, and multiple operational domains.
  • Preferred experience with robotics software such as ROS and OMPL, optimization solvers, and simulation environments such as AFSIM and NGTS.
  • Familiarity with navigation and communications systems, systems engineering methodologies, and high-assurance processes such as DO-178C or equivalent MIL-STD standards.
