Principal HR Integrations Architect

Responsibilities
- Define integration architecture patterns, standards, strategy, and roadmap for the People Technology ecosystem.
- Lead discovery, stakeholder partnership, prioritization, and build-versus-buy and integration-pattern decisions.
- Design, build, test, deploy, and optimize scalable Workday integrations across their full lifecycle.
- Use Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, Cloud Connect, PECI, Web Services, RaaS, calculated fields, and custom reporting.
- Own production integration operations, including service-queue management, root-cause analysis, technical-debt reduction, and permanent fixes.
- Strengthen monitoring, alerting, logging, error handling, and release testing for Workday updates and critical business cycles.
- Protect sensitive employee data through secure-by-design practices and appropriate authentication and encryption controls.
- Partner with People, Payroll, Benefits, Talent Acquisition, Finance, IT, Security, Enterprise Architecture, and vendors.
- Create runbooks, integration specifications, data-flow diagrams, and shared operating standards.
- Lead design reviews and mentor peers on integration best practices.
Requirements
- 8+ years of integration engineering experience, including 5+ years designing, building, and supporting Workday integrations in complex enterprise environments.
- Deep hands-on experience with Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, Cloud Connect, PECI, Workday Web Services, RaaS, calculated fields, and custom reporting.
- Strong knowledge of REST, SOAP, XML, XSLT, JSON, WSDL, XPath, SFTP, and HTTPS.
- Experience applying OAuth 2.0, SAML, SSL/TLS, and PGP encryption to sensitive data flows.
- Demonstrated ability to make and defend architecture trade-offs involving scalability, technical debt, synchronous and asynchronous designs, and build-versus-buy decisions.
- Experience partnering with nontechnical business leaders and communicating technical trade-offs clearly.
- Experience leading cross-functional integration initiatives from ambiguous requirements through delivery.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, including production support and permanent remediation using Jira or ServiceNow.
- Understanding of HCM, Payroll, Benefits, Compensation, Time & Attendance, and effective-dated HR data.
- Preferred qualifications include Workday Pro Certification in Integrations; Workday Extend or Workday Prism Analytics experience; Boomi or MuleSoft experience; event-driven integration patterns; familiarity with Greenhouse, ServiceNow, CloudPay, ADP, Okta, or NetSuite; AI tooling experience; and People Technology experience in a high-growth or global matrix environment.
