Base Salary
$120k - $165k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, modernization, and deployment of enterprise software systems supporting federal missions.
- Build scalable, secure, and maintainable backend applications and architect APIs using REST and GraphQL.
- Lead system design discussions, architecture reviews, technical decisions, code reviews, and engineering standards.
- Collaborate with product, architecture, DevSecOps, and infrastructure teams on integrated technical solutions.
- Troubleshoot application, integration, production, and system performance issues while supporting performance tuning and operational needs.
- Contribute to cloud modernization, application refactoring, platform engineering, secure software delivery, automated testing, and CI/CD integration.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and translate business and mission requirements into technical implementation strategies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 9 years of professional software engineering experience, including enterprise application development.
- Technical leadership, mentoring, code review, architecture ownership, and strong backend architecture experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Ruby, Ruby on Rails, React, Java, Spring Boot, and REST APIs.
- Experience with distributed systems, microservices, integrations, scalable enterprise applications, software architecture, system design, and design patterns.
- Experience building cloud-native applications in AWS or Azure.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, source control, and DevSecOps workflows.
- Knowledge of secure software development, API security, and application security best practices.
- Experience troubleshooting production systems, performance tuning, and operational support.
- Applicants must be US citizens and able to obtain Public Trust clearance.
- Nice-to-have experience includes Docker, Kubernetes, event-driven architecture, serverless platforms, Zero Trust principles, secure systems integration, and federal government agency support.
