Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate distributed backend systems for recommendations and AI workflows.
- Own and improve the infrastructure on AWS and Kubernetes for reliability and scalability.
- Enhance system resilience by implementing eventing, retries, and recovery mechanisms.
- Reduce single points of failure and share operational ownership across the team.
- Design service and API boundaries, and optimize MongoDB data models and queries.
- Utilize AI tooling to enhance system reliability and performance.
- Collaborate with product teams to deliver high-quality, maintainable code.
- Mentor engineers on backend and reliability practices.
Requirements
- BA/BS degree or equivalent experience.
- Business-level fluency in English.
- 5+ years of experience in building and operating backend systems in production.
- Strong knowledge of distributed systems and designing for failure.
- Proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript/Node.js.
- Experience with MongoDB or similar databases.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, containers, Kubernetes, and CI/CD.
- Commitment to testing, documentation, and reliability.
