Responsibilities
- Design, architect, implement, and operate scalable cloud-native software systems across frontend, backend, and testing.
- Build and own serverless services, container-based microservices, event-driven distributed systems, and durable high-scale applications.
- Build and operate the cloud infrastructure and platforms supporting Helix products, including Kubernetes and infrastructure as code.
- Own technical direction, project deliverables, production reliability, and broader engineering practices and standards.
- Collaborate with product managers, bioinformaticians, scientists, analytics, AI, commercial teams, and other engineers.
- Use AI coding tools and agents, help drive AI adoption in engineering workflows, mentor engineers, and promote continuous learning.
Requirements
- 6+ years of development experience in Go, Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, Java, or similar.
- Experience with distributed systems and cloud infrastructure on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Experience building complex cloud infrastructure from the ground up, including strong production Kubernetes experience with multi-tenant workloads.
- Experience developing and owning serverless services such as AWS API Gateway, AWS Lambda, and container-based microservices.
- Experience architecting large-scale durable backend or frontend systems and designing and operating event-driven distributed systems at scale.
- Experience driving infrastructure changes through CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code using tools such as AWS CDK, Terraform, or Pulumi.
- Demonstrated technical thought leadership and successful mentoring experience; fluent written and verbal English.
- Preferred experience includes regulated software systems such as HIPAA, ISO, or FDA environments, and supporting researchers, scientists, or other technical users.
