Responsibilities
- Build, design, and architect Alpaca’s algorithmic trading platform.
- Write production code and make critical platform and system-design decisions.
- Develop high-performance, low-latency, highly available, and concurrent distributed systems.
- Work across frontend and backend systems, databases, object-oriented data modeling, and service-oriented architectures.
- Develop and implement Order Management Systems and Risk Management Systems.
- Optimize systems for low latency and high throughput.
Requirements
- Previous software engineering experience with trading or exchange systems, including OMS, EMS, exchanges, market making, algorithmic trading, or quantitative trading.
- Strong software engineering experience; lead experience is preferred.
- Coding experience in low- and high-level languages such as C, C++, Go, Zig, Rust, Java, Scala, and Python.
- Experience with low-latency and high-throughput optimization, messaging queues, and message brokers.
- Knowledge of algorithms, distributed systems, scalability, high availability, databases, concurrency control, and system design.
- Preferred experience with algorithmic trading, FIX protocol, observability, tracing, continuous profiling, benchmarking, financial markets, financial ledgers, statistical or quantitative analysis, major cloud platforms, Docker, and Kubernetes.
