Responsibilities
- Build Alpaca’s algorithmic trading platform.
- Design and architect a high-quality, high-performance brokerage platform.
- Write substantial production code and make critical technical decisions for customer experience.
- Develop systems spanning frontend, backend, databases, distributed architectures, concurrency, high availability, and CPU-level optimization.
- Develop and implement Order Management Systems and Risk Management Systems.
Requirements
- Previous software engineering experience with trading or exchange systems such as OMS, EMS, exchanges, market making, algorithmic trading, or quantitative trading.
- Strong software engineering experience; lead experience is preferred.
- Coding experience in C, C++, Go, Zig, Rust, Java, Scala, and Python.
- Experience optimizing for low latency and high throughput.
- Experience with messaging queues and message brokers.
- Knowledge of algorithms, distributed systems, scalability, high availability, databases, low-latency systems, and concurrency control.
- System design experience including object-oriented data modeling, service-oriented architectures, and system abstraction.
- Experience developing and implementing Order Management Systems and Risk Management Systems.
- Algo trading experience, FIX protocol knowledge, observability, tracing, continuous profiling, benchmarking, financial market knowledge, financial ledger experience, and statistical or quantitative analysis skills are preferred.
- Experience with major cloud platforms, particularly GCP, Docker, and Kubernetes, is preferred.
