Base Salary
$146k - $215k/yr
Responsibilities
- Ship new and improved features to end users in collaboration with the team.
- Write, debug, and optimize code for web applications, APIs, databases, and infrastructure, supported by automated tests and monitoring.
- Deliver code to production and features to users frequently and incrementally.
- Collaborate through pair programming, mob programming, code reviews, and design sessions.
- Improve shared systems, tooling, practices, build pipelines, and delivery pipelines across teams.
- Contribute technical expertise to design and architecture discussions.
- Evaluate responsible uses of AI-powered engineering tools and approaches to improve developer velocity, reliability, and quality.
- Unblock teammates and other teams through hands-on work and guidance.
- Break work into increments that deliver value to users and help develop other engineers.
- Improve product and process quality, collaboration, psychological safety, and awareness of broader business context.
Requirements
- 8-10+ years of professional software experience.
- Experience working at companies of varying sizes and stages, from large technology companies to startups or high-growth environments.
- Track record of delivering impactful user and business outcomes.
- Experience driving technical excellence through improvements to processes, practices, and tools, including test automation, CI/CD, or DevOps practices.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Ability to collaborate with engineers, designers, and product teams in a pair-programming environment.
- Ownership mindset, accountability, adaptability, and interest in improving engineering culture and teamwork.
- Willingness to evolve engineering and product development practices as AI-powered products and workflows become more prominent.
- Passion for education and impact on children’s lives.
- Must live and work in the Americas time zones.
- Experience using Node or React at scale is a bonus.
- Experience with MongoDB or MySQL is a bonus.
- DevOps experience, especially with AWS, is a bonus.
