Responsibilities
- Design and develop a Genomics Data System with the Data Science Production Engineering team.
- Develop solutions for retrieving and archiving genomics data from various platforms.
- Create databases to manage metadata of genomics data files.
- Automate processes for data retrieval and metadata management.
- Test, deploy, and maintain the developed systems.
- Write technical documentation for the systems.
- Provide training and technical support to team members.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Bioinformatics, or a related field; advanced degrees preferred.
- 7 years of relevant industry experience for Bachelor's degree holders; 5 years for Master's; 3 years for Doctorate.
- Excellent Python programming skills with experience in cloud applications or automation systems.
- Proficient in RDBMS systems like PostgreSQL or MySQL with database application development experience.
- Strong Linux command line skills and experience in Linux application development.
- Familiarity with AWS services and experience using them.
- Good understanding of genomics data formats such as FASTQ, BAM, and VCF.
- Familiarity with Git workflow and version control systems like GitHub or GitLab.
- Experience in developing automation solutions.
- Familiarity with SDLC and software development methodologies.
- Good documentation practices and coding style.
- Preferred: IaC skills with CloudFormation, Terraform, or Ansible.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong integrity and teamwork skills.
