Base Salary
$229k - $343k/yr
Responsibilities
- Evaluate alternative external data sources and deploy advanced architectures to improve underwriting predictions for new customer segments.
- Lead machine-learning operations and infrastructure initiatives, including scaling data ingestion and enabling more complex neural networks.
- Design and implement the complete credit modeling stack and own the lifecycle of production credit decisioning.
- Use data science techniques to interpret messy datasets and inform business decisions.
- Identify and execute material improvements to credit policy through technical and logic changes.
- Support model updates and troubleshoot issues in a real-time production environment.
- Balance innovation with the safety, soundness, and compliance requirements of a regulated bank.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree, 6 years with a master's degree, or 3 years with a PhD developing and deploying machine-learning and statistical models in production.
- A degree in a technical field such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or Engineering.
- Strong quantitative intuition, data visualization skills, and experience conducting sophisticated ad-hoc and exploratory analysis.
- Preferred full-stack proficiency across data pipelines and production-grade software architecture.
- Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences, including executive stakeholders.
- Pragmatic problem-solving skills and the ability to balance business, technical, and regulatory constraints.
- Experience with tree-based models and gradient boosting is helpful but not required.
- A demonstrated track record of scientific research or an advanced degree is strongly preferred.
