Base Salary
$201k - $275k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and lead implementation of the data governance platform, including its data asset registry, control plane, and catalog.
- Build contract models, reusable libraries, and CI modules that automatically enforce compliance rules and detect breaking changes.
- Develop pipeline emission, data quality, lineage, freshness, completeness, and impact-analysis frameworks.
- Create steward tooling, remediation workflows, campaign instrumentation, and compliance automation for retention, residency, evidence, and access controls.
- Set technical direction across the platform team and collaborate with governance leads, TPMs, engineering managers, and security teams.
- Drive adoption of governance tooling and make multi-year platform build, extension, and purchase decisions.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of backend or infrastructure engineering experience, including substantial recent work with metadata, data quality, governance, or developer platforms.
- Experience building and operating a production control plane or policy engine that applies authoritative governance decisions across an organization.
- Ability to design the effects of failed checks on downstream consumers and backfills in CI and write paths.
- Experience driving adoption of platform tooling that constrains users without direct authority over them.
- Experience building controls that automatically generate audit evidence.
- Deep Python expertise, Java proficiency, and fluency in infrastructure as code.
- Preferred experience extending DataHub Cloud or another metadata platform in production.
- Preferred experience with column-level lineage and OpenLineage.
- Preferred production experience with Iceberg, Snowflake, Airflow, Kafka, Flink, Spark, or Kubernetes.
- Experience in regulated environments such as SOX or PCI-DSS, or in payments and card issuing, is a plus.
