Staff Software Engineer
GE VernovaResponsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and define, develop, and evolve software for grid-management products.
- Design and implement modules, features, interfaces, and software architecture using appropriate technologies.
- Understand product modules and their relationships while serving as an expert in an assigned component.
- Estimate work, assess technology impacts, and collaborate with Product Line Leaders on requirements and product vision.
- Lead design reviews, technical discussions, and design decisions across teams.
- Maintain code quality through best practices, unit testing, and code-quality automation.
- Assess and improve application scalability and performance.
- Mentor and guide others, delegate work when appropriate, and collaborate with cross-functional and global teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a STEM field.
- Significant demonstrated commercial software development experience.
- Advanced experience with Java and Spring or Spring Boot.
- Advanced experience with microservices architecture and web services, including REST and SOAP.
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
- Hands-on web development experience with JavaScript; TypeScript and Angular are preferred.
- Experience with Golang or Python.
- Strong knowledge of computer science fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, software design patterns, and Java coding principles.
- Ability to work independently, analyze complex requirements, communicate technical rationale, and provide technical leadership.
- Preferred qualifications include a master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, energy-domain software experience, Certified Scrum Master or Product Owner certification, AI/ML experience, and understanding of Wide Area Monitoring and Control Systems.
