Responsibilities
- Architect, build, and maintain foundational cloud services and platform solutions for low-latency, real-time messaging and APIs.
- Own high-throughput messaging systems, including upgrades, performance validation, capacity planning, dashboards, and alerting.
- Design and support gRPC and Protobuf APIs and client integrations with robust telemetry.
- Lead infrastructure automation and deployment workflows across development, staging, and production environments.
- Build monitoring and alerting with Datadog, Prometheus, and Grafana to track metrics and service-level objectives.
- Configure and optimize reverse proxies and API gateways for reliable and secure ingress and routing.
- Oversee PKI, certificate pipelines, and service identities for secure authentication and transport.
- Develop and execute end-to-end, integration, and scaling test pipelines.
- Advance multi-region reliability, cost and performance optimization, and multi-tenant platform capabilities.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience focused on distributed systems, high-scale backend services, or streaming and messaging platforms.
- Strong proficiency in Go, Java, or TypeScript, with foundations in API design, networking, and concurrency.
- Production service management experience with observability practices covering traces, logs, and metrics.
- Experience participating in on-call rotations.
- Working knowledge of AWS, Azure or GCP, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, and infrastructure as code solutions such as Crossplane or Terraform.
- Preferred: hands-on expertise with NATS, Kafka, MQTT, gRPC, and multi-region or multi-tenant architectures.
- Preferred: familiarity with NGINX or Envoy and secure transport and authentication patterns.
- Preferred: contributions to or maintenance of high-impact open-source software.
