Responsibilities
- Build and refine controls that prevent customers from scams.
- Develop backend and frontend systems for scam prevention and detection, with approximately 80% backend and 20% frontend work.
- Design, operate, and improve scalable distributed and concurrent systems and CI/CD pipelines.
- Design resilient database schemas and optimize queries across relational and non-relational databases.
- Own projects end to end, make data-driven decisions, and collaborate with Product, Data Science, and Investigations teams.
- Increase automation and deliver measurable improvements to customer security and the money-transfer product.
Requirements
- Professional experience with Java or other JVM-based languages and the Spring framework.
- Experience building and designing scalable web applications that handle large amounts of traffic.
- Experience with React-based frontend applications and JavaScript or TypeScript.
- Proven experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines and distributed, concurrent systems.
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases, query optimization, and resilient schema design.
- Strong product ownership, accountability, independent project execution, and customer-focused decision-making.
- Strong problem-solving skills, software engineering fundamentals, test-driven development practices, and commitment to code quality.
- Excellent communication skills for explaining complex technical concepts across teams.
- Preferred: familiarity with the machine-learning lifecycle, including data pipelines, feature engineering, and deploying ML systems into production.
