Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable, maintainable, reusable backend services and components.
- Build extensible APIs and distributed backend services using Java and modern backend frameworks.
- Own features from design through delivery and collaborate with product managers to translate requirements into well-architected solutions.
- Contribute to new products and features while enhancing existing product capabilities.
- Develop test strategies covering functional, regression, integration, and performance testing.
- Integrate automated testing into development workflows and participate in design and code reviews.
- Troubleshoot distributed systems, optimize backend performance, and promote reliability, observability, production readiness, and engineering quality.
- Share engineering best practices and foster a culture of craftsmanship, knowledge-sharing, continuous learning, and thoughtful quality practices.
Requirements
- At least 9 years of software engineering experience delivering high-quality products.
- Strong proficiency in Java and object-oriented programming; Python or other language experience is a plus.
- Experience building RESTful APIs and distributed backend services.
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, design patterns, and performance optimization.
- Familiarity with JUnit, TestNG, Mockito, automated testing, and integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines.
- Understanding of software quality principles including reliability, observability, and production readiness.
- Experience troubleshooting complex distributed systems and optimizing backend-service performance.
- Experience with AI-powered tools or workflows, including validation of datasets, model predictions, and inference consistency.
- Comfort using IDEs, debuggers, profilers, source control, and Unix-based systems.
- Ability to apply critical thinking to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving.
