Responsibilities
- Lead the design, build, and extension of production AI agent systems for the Bee AI product.
- Architect and evolve Python-based services and agent workflows using PydanticAI and GCP.
- Define prompt management, context handling, response schemas, fallback logic, and versioning practices for agents.
- Establish offline and online evaluation approaches, experimentation frameworks, telemetry, and success criteria for agent behavior.
- Build monitoring, debugging, observability, performance analysis, and continuous improvement practices for agents in production.
- Partner with Product, Design, Data, and adjacent engineering teams to turn ambiguous opportunities into shipped features.
- Assess AI outputs for quality, bias, safety, and transparency, and ensure human oversight where appropriate.
- Provide technical leadership for code quality, system design, and delivery as an individual contributor.
Requirements
- Typically requires 8–10 years of experience, with equivalent skills from alternative backgrounds considered.
- Deep software engineering experience in production systems, strong Python expertise, and a track record building scalable backend services.
- Hands-on experience building or guiding AI- and ML-powered product experiences, particularly AI agents, prompt design, context orchestration, and evaluation strategies.
- Experience designing schema-validated LLM interactions, managing prompts and response structures, and creating deterministic fallbacks and safeguards.
- Experience with GCP cloud infrastructure and designing systems with observability, resilience, and operational clarity.
- Ability to define technical approaches for ambiguous, high-impact problems and influence across teams.
- Experience building evaluation and feedback loops involving instrumentation, experimentation, monitoring, and iterative improvement.
- Effective cross-disciplinary collaboration, ownership of outcomes, adaptability, and responsible use of AI.
