Base Salary
$245k - $290k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define and drive the long-term technical strategy and roadmap for Crusoe’s cloud storage engine.
- Lead the V2 storage re-architecture using system programming languages including C, C++, Go, and/or Rust.
- Architect and implement storage solutions using NFS, SMB, iSCSI, and NVMe/TCP.
- Drive open-source contributions and stewardship across storage projects such as Ceph, GlusterFS, Lustre, Spectrum Scale, and OpenEBS.
- Serve as the final technical authority for architecture decisions and lead design reviews spanning storage, networking, and virtualization.
- Lead tiger teams addressing kernel-level I/O bottlenecks, performance tuning, and tail latency in distributed clusters.
- Collaborate with executive leadership and Product to align storage capabilities with business milestones.
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience building and operating large-scale, complex distributed cloud computing infrastructure products.
- Proven system programming experience with C, C++, Go, and/or Rust.
- Strong troubleshooting, profiling, and performance-tuning skills across the full I/O path.
- Deep theoretical and practical knowledge of distributed state, consistency, durability, and data protection at petabyte scale.
- Mastery of professional software engineering practices covering coding standards, build processes, testing, and the full SDLC.
- Ability to lead initiatives across the engineering organization and communicate through technical talks and reading groups.
- Preferred experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or OCI and familiarity with PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, and MLOps.
- Preferred experience with DAOS, SPDK, RDMA, SmartNICs, RoCEv2, Cassandra, MongoDB, Redis, or Kafka.
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is a bonus qualification.
