Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate high-performance, stable, scalable platform systems and global-scale services in production and non-production environments.
- Set engineering, operational, security, and data-protection standards across multiple teams within the platform domain.
- Influence domain and organization-level strategy, multi-quarter planning, roadmap prioritization, and technical vision.
- Lead major functional and architectural changes across team boundaries and make high-impact build, extension, deprecation, and investment decisions.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues using source code, logs, metrics, stack traces, and traces, and drive systemic improvements.
- Establish service KPIs for performance, scale, availability, reliability, and security, using data to guide technical investment.
- Mentor Senior and Staff Engineers, oversee designs and code quality, and provide input on growth and promotion readiness.
- Support on-call operations, incident response, operational playbooks, and coordination of cross-team incidents.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and 13–16+ years of total software development experience.
- Deep hands-on experience with Golang and proficiency in additional programming languages.
- Strong experience with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS or comparable cloud providers, Kubernetes-based microservices, messaging, database services, API gateways, service mesh, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, asynchronous communication, gRPC, and Kafka.
- Experience implementing alerting, metrics, logging, and observability with tools such as Prometheus, CloudWatch, Kibana, and PagerDuty.
- Practical knowledge of PostgreSQL, Redis, ElasticSearch, and Caffeine for persistence and caching.
- Familiarity with asynchronous, non-blocking, functional or reactive programming and frameworks including Spring WebFlux, Vert.x, and Node.js.
- Proven experience building and operating global-scale platform services, large-volume transaction systems, and data migration workflows.
- Experience operationalizing workflows into self-service systems with appropriate guardrails and handling on-call and incident response responsibilities.
- Strong technical leadership, strategic influence, documentation, communication, judgment, and mentoring abilities across distributed teams.
