Responsibilities
- Own and evolve one or more Java components in the Postgres ecosystem.
- Work alongside Terraform and operators to understand how components are provisioned and operated.
- Improve the reliability, performance, and security of owned components.
- Maintain forks of open-source projects and evaluate upstream changes.
- Collaborate with teams transferring ownership and with downstream consumers.
- Document processes, concepts, and technical decisions.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional Java application development experience for the mid-level track or 7+ years for the senior track.
- Experience with infrastructure and infrastructure-as-code concepts, including Terraform or similar provisioning tools.
- Experience building, packaging, and debugging applications in Docker/OCI and Kubernetes environments.
- Experience with databases, preferably Postgres, including application-level understanding of MVCC and concurrency mechanics.
- Experience with distributed systems and unit and integration testing.
- Strong English communication skills and a focus on clean, maintainable code.
- Rust or Go experience, open-source fork maintenance, hands-on Terraform, monitoring and log analysis tools such as Datadog, and familiarity with Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex are preferred.
