Responsibilities
- Collaborate with product leadership to understand business goals and shape technical direction, system architecture, data architecture, and delivery milestones.
- Write clear technical designs, standards, and documentation.
- Set high standards, drive continuous improvement, and enable engineering teams to improve.
- Identify and apply Generative AI tools and techniques to transform engineering processes.
- Coach Lead Engineers, provide feedback and decision-making guardrails, and mentor aspiring Staff Engineers.
- Perform hands-on technical deep-dives and troubleshoot complex issues while enabling teams to resolve future problems independently.
- Own high-level solution design and technology decisions within the Multi-Product Experiences Group.
- Influence stakeholders across Funding Circle by presenting technology solutions, risks, and tradeoffs.
- Connect technology decisions to customer and commercial outcomes and represent Funding Circle at external events.
Requirements
- Demonstrated technical leadership and experience solving high-level problems while working hands-on with technical challenges.
- Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
- Experience with at least one major programming language, such as Python, Ruby, or Java.
- Strong programming fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms.
- Familiarity with Unix/Linux development.
- Knowledge of Agile, Scrum, BDD, TDD, and CI/CD.
- Experience delivering mission-critical, high-value products and services.
- Proven experience adopting emerging technologies, particularly Generative AI, to solve complex engineering challenges and drive organizational change.
