Base Salary
$135k - $178k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable, modular, and resilient backend systems.
- Maintain high standards through design reviews, code reviews, testing, observability, and production-readiness practices.
- Create dependable APIs, events, and service boundaries for integrations, experimentation, analytics, and downstream systems.
- Improve reliability, maintainability, observability, performance, and operational excellence across critical services.
- Build automated unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end test coverage.
- Collaborate with product, analytics, and engineering teams to deliver reliable solutions.
- Use AI tools for prototyping, scaffolding, refactoring, and exploratory development, validating results with engineering judgment.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience building and shipping production applications.
- Deep expertise in Java and Spring Boot and modern backend architecture.
- Experience designing and operating APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and service contracts in production.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, data modeling, indexing, and query performance.
- Experience with asynchronous and event-driven architectures such as Kafka and SQS.
- Understanding of observability, including logging, metrics, tracing, and production debugging.
- Experience with unit, integration, and contract testing strategies.
- Familiarity with Git-based workflows, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, AWS, and Kubernetes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience with high-scale consumer-facing systems, marketplace platforms, API gateways, rate limiting, data pipelines, event quality, or analytics instrumentation is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Claude Code or similar AI-powered IDEs and AI coding models is advantageous.
- Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and technical judgment skills.
