Responsibilities
- Design and build distributed systems, services, and APIs for high-dimensional simulation data across data processing, model training, and inference.
- Own cross-team platform and infrastructure work end to end and build effective relationships across ambiguous ownership boundaries.
- Build tools and automated pipelines for data ingestion and processing that support active learning loops.
- Architect and integrate storage solutions, data warehouses, and data lakes for complex simulation and deep learning workloads.
- Deploy and support services across cloud, on-premises, and air-gapped production environments.
- Define system architecture and balance performance, reliability, cost, and developer experience.
- Author and review Technical Decision Records and contribute to Technology Radar reviews.
- Mentor and support engineers, including early-career and mid-career colleagues, while remaining hands-on with code.
- Communicate with engineering, delivery, and customer-facing stakeholders.
Requirements
- Strong Kubernetes experience, including CRDs, Operators, and infrastructure configuration tools such as Helm or ArgoCD.
- Strong command of Go and working knowledge of Python; Rust experience is valued.
- Experience deploying and supporting services across more than one production environment.
- ML platform or prior data science experience and fluency in how ML practitioners and researchers approach problems.
- Experience operating at a senior or staff level, or equivalent people leadership experience, in a comparable engineering organization.
- Prior experience mentoring or developing other engineers.
- Strong communication, organizational, proactive problem-solving, adaptability, and comfort with ambiguity.
- Experience with ML-focused startups or platform companies, large-scale infrastructure, cloud/on-premises/air-gapped software, or big-data systems and analytics at scale is preferred.
