Responsibilities
- Define and drive the technical vision for Microsoft’s Public Key Infrastructure platform.
- Architect and build resilient, highly scalable, low-latency services for certificate lifecycle management, identity, authorization, and secure access.
- Enable cryptographic agility and prepare the ecosystem for emerging technologies such as post-quantum cryptography.
- Embed security, compliance, least privilege, trust boundaries, reliability, observability, and operational efficiency into platform capabilities.
- Write clean, maintainable, secure, performant code and lead design reviews, code reviews, automation, testing, and service-health improvements.
- Collaborate with engineering, product management, security, and service teams to deliver secure-by-default solutions and strengthen customer trust.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field and 8+ years of technical engineering experience with coding, or equivalent experience.
- Preferred: master’s degree and 12+ years of technical engineering experience, or bachelor’s degree and 15+ years of technical engineering experience, or equivalent experience.
- Experience architecting distributed systems, including 8+ years preferred.
- Proficiency with programming languages such as C#, Rust, Go, Java, or C++, with coding experience also listed in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- Experience building scalable and reliable software solutions and writing clean, maintainable, efficient code.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud and understanding of cloud infrastructure and services.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud background check.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, including diagnosing issues, identifying root causes, and implementing effective solutions.
