Responsibilities
- Raise the engineering bar through design reviews, mentoring, and pragmatic technical standards.
- Own identity services end to end from design through implementation, deployment, and ongoing operation.
- Help diagnose and resolve urgent customer and operational incidents and prevent recurrence.
- Balance feature delivery with the reliability and availability of critical high-volume infrastructure.
- Set technical direction and make architectural trade-offs across reliability, availability, consistency, and security.
- Evolve the identity platform from startup-grade to robust, scalable infrastructure.
- Shape the long-term roadmap for SSO, SCIM, and OIDC on modern cloud infrastructure.
- Lead analysis of complex or ambiguous needs, frame solutions in business terms, align stakeholders, and ensure delivery addresses the underlying problem.
Requirements
- Production-grade backend engineering at Staff level with a record of owning systems across team boundaries.
- Strong experience driving initiatives from design through implementation, deployment, and operation.
- Willingness to participate hands-on in operational and incident-response work.
- Experience building and operating reliable, high-throughput services while balancing delivery and availability.
- Strong software engineering and architecture principles, with the ability to mentor and raise team standards.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving, maturing organization and work through ambiguity.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to influence technical direction without formal authority.
- Experience with identity and access platforms such as SSO, OIDC, SCIM, and session management is a plus.
- Familiarity with modern cloud-native infrastructure such as EKS, Aurora, and Redis is a plus.
