Responsibilities
- Write hands-on code to deliver scalable backend services and infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain reliable, secure, high-performance cloud services.
- Mentor and support developers while fostering continuous learning and improvement.
- Maintain code quality through automated deployments, unit testing, integration testing, and continuous improvement.
- Document and present technical solutions clearly and thoroughly.
- Deliver team commitments on time.
- Participate in on-call rotations for production systems.
- Monitor backend performance and implement scalability, response-time, and resource-use optimizations.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software development experience building enterprise-level cloud services.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Experience building cloud services using Java for backend development.
- Strong understanding of cloud architecture, serverless computing, microservices, infrastructure as code, GitOps, and AWS best practices.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services including ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, RDS, SQS, and SNS.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, data modeling, ORM frameworks, caching strategies, distributed systems, and RESTful APIs.
- Experience integrating with internal and external team APIs.
- Experience using CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
- Preferred: significant hands-on experience with AI-powered development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, and VSCode Copilot.
- Preferred: familiarity with spec-driven development and agentic coding tools.
Benefits
- For Canada-based roles, the starting base salary is $131,000–$191,400, with offers based on experience and geographic location.
- The compensation package may include annual cash bonuses, stock grants, and comprehensive benefits.
- The role may require in-person onboarding and/or in-person identity verification.
