Responsibilities
- Design and implement vehicle control systems and embedded Linux or RTOS applications.
- Develop device drivers, communications protocols, and APIs for aircraft sensors.
- Integrate sensors, features, guidance algorithms, and control systems into flight-controller software.
- Create Software-In-The-Loop and Hardware-In-The-Loop test fixtures and automation.
- Analyze flight-test results, debug issues, and iterate on flight-software fixes and improvements.
- Support manufacturing, production-level testing, operational aircraft deployments, and field troubleshooting.
- Own flight-stack components end-to-end, lead technical design reviews, mentor junior engineers, and improve test infrastructure.
Requirements
- 4+ years of C++ or Rust programming experience is required.
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent experience is required.
- Direct experience with embedded software or other safety-critical systems and low-level embedded architecture is required.
- Experience developing low-level device drivers for microcontrollers and application processors is required.
- Familiarity with embedded systems tools, compilers, debuggers, IDEs, communications buses, and protocols is required.
- Strong debugging skills using instrumentation such as oscilloscopes and protocol analyzers are required.
- Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
- Preferred qualifications include 6+ years of C++ or Rust experience, avionics and vehicle-systems knowledge, flight-stack experience with PX4, ArduPilot, or proprietary autopilots, and familiarity with control systems, state estimation, and guidance algorithms.
- Experience with SITL/HITL frameworks, embedded CI, and reproducible test environments is preferred.
