Responsibilities
- Define and own the automated test strategy for web portals, backend microservices, APIs, contracts, integrations, and end-to-end workflows.
- Design testing for distributed event-driven systems, including asynchronous messaging, eventual consistency, idempotency, ordering, retries, and dead-letter handling.
- Develop and maintain web and API test automation frameworks using Playwright, Selenium, Java, and/or JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Test services deployed on AWS ECS, EKS, and Lambda, including local AWS integration testing with TestContainers and LocalStack.
- Drive performance, load, resilience, chaos, and failure-injection testing and partner with engineering on bottleneck remediation.
- Integrate automated suites into CI/CD pipelines, reduce flakiness, optimize execution, enable parallelization, and improve test-result observability.
- Define quality metrics such as coverage, escape rate, MTTR, and flake rate to guide engineering decisions.
- Use LLM-based tools to accelerate test authoring, test-data generation, debugging, failure triage, code review, and boilerplate development.
- Mentor SDE-II and SDE-III QA engineers and influence software design and architecture toward testability and quality.
- Review application and test code, evaluate testing tools and methodologies, and make build-versus-buy decisions for testing tooling.
Requirements
- Strong programming skills in Java with the Spring Boot ecosystem and/or JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Deep hands-on experience with Playwright and/or Selenium for web automation.
- Experience testing microservices, API-based systems, and asynchronous or event-driven architectures such as SNS/SQS; Kafka or RabbitMQ is a plus.
- Experience testing cloud-native applications on AWS ECS, EKS, and Lambda, with familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Understanding of CI/CD, automated test integration, and pipeline quality gates.
- Experience with performance and load testing and other non-functional quality practices.
- Experience with API automation tools such as Postman or REST-assured and a strong understanding of REST APIs.
- Basic knowledge of UNIX/Linux systems and scripting.
- Ability to make quality decisions, solve problems, pay attention to detail, and mentor engineers.
- Hands-on experience with LLM or AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or Cursor, with sound judgment about human review.
- Nice-to-have experience with contract testing using Pact or Spring Cloud Contract.
- Nice-to-have familiarity with infrastructure as code using Terraform or CloudFormation and observability tools such as CloudWatch, Datadog, or Grafana.
- Experience in identity verification, KYC/AML, or security- and compliance-sensitive domains is desirable.
- Experience building or testing LLM/AI-powered features or integrating AI into test automation and CI/CD workflows is desirable.
