Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement end-to-end system features spanning user interfaces and backend services.
- Lead Kafka event topology, topic and partition strategy, schema governance, producer and consumer contracts, and stream-processing design.
- Evaluate ordering, delivery semantics, replay, resilience, security, observability, throughput, retries, dead-letter processing, and backpressure.
- Serve as a subject-matter expert, make team decisions, collaborate across multiple teams, and provide solutions to complex problems.
- Coordinate Kafka platform and integration delivery, capacity planning, releases, cross-team dependencies, operational risks, and incident escalations.
- Mentor junior engineers and coordinate cross-functional efforts to improve delivery and workflows.
- Use approved AI coding assistants for Kafka code generation, refactoring, debugging, and integration testing, with human review and validation.
- Build and evaluate Kafka pipelines supporting AI inference, embedding updates, and retrieval-augmented generation data ingestion.
Requirements
- At least 7.5 years of overall experience.
- At least five years of experience with Apache Kafka.
- Proficiency with Apache Kafka and experience with distributed messaging systems and event-driven architecture.
- Strong knowledge of backend and frontend development frameworks.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, deployment strategies, performance troubleshooting, agile development, and continuous integration.
- Hands-on experience with approved coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, including context-rich prompting, generated-code review, and automated test validation.
- Experience with Java or Python, LLM APIs, Kafka Streams or approved Kafka client libraries, and retrieval or vector-store integrations.
- Knowledge of capital markets and investment management, including securities, trading, portfolio management, and investment operations.
- At least 15 years of full-time education.
- Experience managing delivery, capacity, releases, dependencies, operational risks, and incident escalations is required for the managerial scope.
