Base Salary
$175k - $185k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead and take ownership of core database systems for performance, availability, and security.
- Communicate critical data changes to the data warehousing team.
- Collaborate with engineering and data teams on schema changes from design to deployment.
- Build and maintain automated test and deployment data pipelines.
- Proactively detect weak areas and incorporate them into automated monitoring and alerting.
- Document and automate processes to reduce recurring tasks.
- Evaluate new database features to meet scalability and uptime requirements.
- Manage database backup and recovery, establishing disaster recovery practices.
- Support and debug production database issues, participating in incident response.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience managing MySQL/CloudSQL at scale.
- Expertise in SQL and MySQL specifics, including schema design.
- Deep knowledge of MySQL internals.
- Solid understanding of MySQL replication, SQL tuning, and database optimization.
- Experience operating Google Cloud Spanner at scale.
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent program.
- Payments experience or related industry is a plus.
- Experience with the GCP toolset is preferred.
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code is advantageous.
- Experience with Redis and global, multi-region deployments is a bonus.
