Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, guide technical decisions, conduct code reviews, and establish engineering practices and documentation.
- Own full-stack systems design decisions involving API architecture, data models, and UI component structure.
- Lead guardrails, validation layers, end-to-end tests, and supporting systems for safe and reliable AI-assisted development.
- Translate product and design requirements into scoped engineering tasks and distribute work across the team.
- Build responsive front-end experiences and reusable UI components with React and modern component libraries.
- Develop secure backend services with Express.js, REST APIs, modular design, and Prisma ORM.
- Collaborate with design, product, DevSecOps, and field teams to launch features quickly and securely.
- Drive rapid prototyping while enforcing production-grade coding standards.
- Write and review unit, integration, and end-to-end tests and maintain automated quality gates.
- Troubleshoot defects, improve performance, and build for IL6 deployment requirements.
Requirements
- 8+ years of relevant software engineering experience, including prior experience leading engineers.
- Demonstrated ownership of full-stack software development from infrastructure through user experience.
- Experience leading AI-enabled development teams and owning guardrails, validation, end-to-end testing, and supporting systems.
- Strong frontend proficiency with React, JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS, component design, hooks, and responsive design.
- Strong backend proficiency with Express.js, Prisma ORM, relational databases, SQL, indexing, and query optimization.
- Understanding of systems design spanning frontend and backend systems, state management, asynchronous data fetching, and event-driven messaging.
- Experience with testing tools such as Jest, Vitest, React Testing Library, Playwright, or Cypress.
- Ability to translate product and design requirements into clear, workable engineering tasks.
- Familiarity with secure software development practices and CI/CD pipelines, including GitHub Actions or GitLab.
- Experience working in Agile or Lean environments with rapid delivery cycles.
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
- Active Secret or TS clearance preferred.
- Preferred experience includes secure government environments such as DoD, IL5+, or FedRAMP, geospatial applications, Security+ or AWS Developer/Architect certifications, and startup or rapid-growth team experience.
