Base Salary

$187k - $268k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and optimize performance on MR Access Point devices.
  • Solve functional and performance regressions in Access Point firmware.
  • Develop features aligned with 802.11 and networking standards while maintaining legacy compatibility.
  • Design and implement data plane optimizations by profiling systems, identifying bottlenecks, and developing performance-oriented solutions.
  • Create tests and processes to triage and resolve performance and functional issues.
  • Lead small-to-medium features from technical design through completion and communicate design decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field with 8+ years of total software engineering experience, or a master’s degree with 6+ years of total software engineering experience.
  • At least 6 years of professional software engineering experience in production environments using C or C++.
  • Experience with Wi-Fi drivers and firmware, including collaboration with Wi-Fi vendors to triage and resolve technical issues.
  • Experience with Linux and/or embedded systems environments and knowledge of TCP/IP and UDP.
  • Experience with 802.11 wireless standards and DNS, DHCP, and VLAN protocols.
  • Experience analyzing Wireshark packet captures for debugging and root cause analysis.
  • Preferred: system and traffic profiling, performance-oriented data structures and algorithms, and performance testing with iperf, Ixia Traffic Generators, Ixia Chariot, or iGen.
  • Preferred: hardware and software acceleration experience with DPDK, VPP, multithreading, or similar technologies.
  • Preferred: Yocto build systems and embedded Linux development.
  • Preferred: experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor, Windsurf, or Codex.
