
Software Engineer
MorningstarResponsibilities
- Design and develop flexible, scalable, and extensible web and enterprise solutions for Equity applications.
- Develop and maintain React-based user interfaces and Java/Spring backend and web-service solutions.
- Support existing systems, understand enterprise complexities, and implement improved systems on modern platforms.
- Improve data flows, data structures, and database designs for migration to the next platform.
- Develop continuous and automated deployment capabilities and follow modern software development practices.
- Participate in full-lifecycle development with developers, analysts, testers, and other cross-functional partners.
- Apply estimation, planning, reporting, test-driven development, automation, and unit-testing practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a similar field.
- 3–5 years of professional experience, including 1–2 years with React or an equivalent UI framework.
- Strong understanding of JavaScript ES6+, HTML5, CSS3, and Node.js.
- Hands-on experience with Java, web services, Spring, and Spring Boot.
- Strong database knowledge and hands-on experience with MS SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, or MongoDB.
- Experience with Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience with product design, requirements analysis, test-driven development, automation, unit testing, and full-lifecycle product development.
- Experience with AI-augmented development tools such as GitHub Copilot and interest in applying AI to software engineering.
- Strong problem-solving, listening, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with architecture trade-off analysis methods and domain-driven design is preferred.
- Open-source contribution experience is a plus.
