Software Engineer III
JPMorgan ChaseResponsibilities
- Design and build end-to-end production ML systems, including data preparation, feature engineering, model training, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
- Develop agentic AI and LLM applications with planning, tool/API calling, multi-step workflows, memory patterns, guardrails, refusal handling, PII filtering, and deterministic fallbacks.
- Build RAG capabilities using retrieval strategies, chunking, embeddings, indexing, and re-ranking.
- Create full-stack product experiences with backend services and frontend UIs for configuration, human-in-the-loop review, observability, and workflow execution.
- Design and integrate RESTful or event-driven APIs and services for models, agents, features, and data products.
- Develop scalable Apache Spark data pipelines for batch processing and feature generation, and use SQL for exploration, transformation, validation, and optimization.
- Operationalize and evaluate ML and LLM systems through MLOps, monitoring, alerting, model registries, experiment tracking, reproducible training, automated evaluation, and regression testing.
- Use and help improve enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools while validating generated outputs through review, testing, and secure coding practices.
- Apply responsible AI, data sensitivity, secure input/output handling, resiliency, and security practices, and guide peers on safe usage.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience delivering production ML solutions across the end-to-end lifecycle.
- Strong ML fundamentals covering supervised and unsupervised learning, feature engineering, model evaluation, bias/variance tradeoffs, and error analysis.
- Hands-on experience developing agentic AI and LLM applications, including tool or function calling, planning, and memory patterns.
- Experience building RAG pipelines with retrieval, chunking, embeddings, and re-ranking approaches, plus implementing LLM guardrails.
- Strong Python programming skills for ML and LLM systems and supporting tooling.
- Full-stack experience with backend APIs or services and modern web frontends such as React, Angular, or Vue, including HITL workflows, configuration, and monitoring or analytics.
- Experience with React and the octagon framework for UI development, and with building and integrating APIs for Experience services.
- Advanced SQL skills, including joins, window functions, CTEs, query optimization, and validation.
- Strong Apache Spark and PySpark experience, including DataFrames, Spark SQL, tuning, and partitioning; Scala experience is also relevant.
