Base Salary
$190k - $220k/yr
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the Reflex production imaging engine, including DAG execution, WGSL operators, GPU resource and memory budgets, and color management.
- Ship engine changes through UniFFI and Nitro native bridges into Studio Pro on iOS and macOS, including versioning and release work.
- Develop imaging capabilities such as RAW development, tiled or gigapixel export, and parity with the existing VSCO imaging stack.
- Diagnose and fix production mobile graphics issues involving out-of-memory conditions, cache eviction, HEIC encoding, and editor, batch, and export paths.
- Maintain shared Studio Pro render and pipeline contracts so mobile and desktop implementations remain coherent.
- Improve native packaging, CI, shared review and agent workflows, and AI-assisted developer workflows.
- Partner with Product, Design, and Engineering to set technical direction and balance architecture with customer value.
Requirements
- 7+ years of engineering experience, including substantial contribution to a production rendering, imaging, or GPU-compute system.
- Deep experience with GPU and rendering pipelines, shaders, color, and memory.
- Strong systems-language experience; Rust is strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and write shaders using WGSL, Metal, or an equivalent technology.
- Experience bringing imaging or graphics work to mobile platforms, including memory budgets, decode and encode, and thermal or GPU limits; iOS and Metal experience is preferred.
- Experience taking nascent ideas from 0 to 1 within an existing product and sequencing investments into larger changes.
- Experience integrating AI-assisted developer workflows such as parallel agents, MCP, and evaluation or review automation.
- Experience with wgpu, WebGPU, WASM, native bridges, React Native, photographic imaging, or on-device or cloud ML is a plus.
