Base Salary
$204k - $348k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build secure, well-documented, high-performance APIs for AI-driven applications.
- Develop schemas and manage SQL, NoSQL, vector, and other data systems for performance and scalability.
- Diagnose and optimize bottlenecks while maintaining high availability and low latency for large-scale workloads.
- Use AWS, Kubernetes, and modern infrastructure practices to build and deploy production systems.
- Integrate data pipelines, APIs, and cloud infrastructure into scientific workflows with ML researchers, engineers, and scientists.
- Contribute software-engineering best practices for Git, development workflows, and user-centered design.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 8–15 years of engineering experience building and deploying large-scale production systems.
- Strong experience with scalable backend system design and complex trade-offs involving performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Full-stack development experience with React, TypeScript, Nx, Tailwind, FastAPI, SQL or NoSQL systems, Python, and Pydantic.
- Experience with ORMs and CRUD web services, including SQLAlchemy, SQLModel, FastAPI, or Django.
- Experience with orchestration tools such as Airflow, Prefect, Temporal, or Dagster.
- Familiarity with scientific Python and machine-learning libraries including pandas, NumPy, SciPy, JAX, and PyTorch.
- Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants is required.
- Strong communication, listening, writing, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Preferred experience includes AWS, Kubernetes, containerization, Terraform, CloudFormation, and GitHub Actions.
- Laboratory software, life sciences, materials sciences, laboratory devices, robotics, or hardware experience is a bonus.
