$150k - $180k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect and own the software scope for a wearable technology product's check-in/check-out system from prototyping through production readiness.
- Integrate RFID/NFC readers and sensors with edge devices using serial communication protocols.
- Develop REST APIs, IoT messaging, data pipelines, database designs, and cloud connectivity for check-in data.
- Design reliable, real-time, event-driven systems and support testing and production integration.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers in a multidisciplinary hardware program.
- Connect and configure RFID readers with computers or industrial edge devices and read and parse tag data.
Requirements
- B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, including experience building IoT or hardware-integrated systems.
- Proficiency in Python and experience with C or C++ for firmware or hardware-level coding.
- Experience with RFID/NFC protocols, including ISO 14443, ISO 18000, EPC Gen2, or NFC standards.
- Experience with serial communication using UART, SPI, or I2C and basic electronics knowledge.
- Experience with Raspberry Pi, Arduino, or industrial edge devices.
- Knowledge of REST APIs, MQTT or WebSockets, TCP/IP, WiFi, LAN, and event-driven architecture.
- Knowledge of database design and SQL, including SQLite, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS IoT, Azure IoT Hub, or Google Cloud IoT.
- Familiarity with Git, Docker, or basic DevOps practices.
- Basic computer vision knowledge with OpenCV is a complementary qualification.
- Experience with access control systems.
